For my 21st classroom, I wanted to integrate different technologies that would permit the students to learn through a scientific research study. The unit plan is on Malaria, in which my students will research causes, geography, organisms, cells and the life cycle of the disease. Because of this I have incorporated computers, a document camera and computer tablets to allow students to research and explore the disease. The tables are set up in circles that way the classroom will promote collaboration among their peers. I also have a laboratory area set up to examine cells of the disease so that students will have the chance to learn hands on and see the disease and its effects with their own eyes. I have also made sure to have safety equipement such as a shower and eye wash station in case of an emergency, as well as safe storage cabinets for the laboratory equipment.
